Buhari plots Goodluck Jonathan's arrest over stolen 5 trillion Naira

The Federal Government says it has uncovered discrepancies of about N3.3tn and traceable to NNPC which was managed under Goodluck Jonathan. This was contained in the 2014 Annual Audit Report presented to the National Assembly on Monday by the office of the Auditor General of the Federation. Aside from this, another 4.4 billion being sales from LNG plant in Bonny was paid into secret accounts managed by Goodluck Jonathan.

The document also showed how N36.4 billion was released to the Office of the National Security Adviser, then under the headship of Col. Sambo Dasuki for the restoration and building of dams in substitute to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. The report also stated that about 3 billion was used to purchase hand sanitizers just during the Ebola epidemic. The document also revealed how Chief Clerk of the National Assembly made payments of 9.5 billion without raising payment vouchers.

The report also revealed how the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC generated about 3.8 million dollars (between 2012 and 2015) but expended the whole amount on unaccounted frivolities. The document showed how Nigerian Prisons Service deducted tax to the tune of 2 billion naira but remitted zero naira to the federal government.

The document also revealed how Jonathan doled out $1.6m meant to build a school by Nigeria following the earthquake of 2010. But the project is yet to be executed 6 years later. The document stated that, “As of the time of inspection, there was no evidence of a Memorandum of Understanding between Nigeria and the Haitian Government for the construction of the school. More so, the location of the school was not affected by earthquake in 2010. Therefore, the purpose for which the money was given could not be achieved.”

Last week, the president was visibly angry at the mismanagement and thievery of the Goodluck Jonathan government. He has directed the EFCC and other relevant agencies to prosecute all perpetrators without fear or favor.

“But Mr. President has ordered that every kobo must be recovered. Whatever it takes, he has made it clear that those funds must be recovered.”
Records of the oil-lifting schedules, timelines of transactions as well as proceeds that were meant to have accrued to government, the source said, “showed that some people just constituted themselves into a parallel government and were just making away with the nation’s resources.”

TRACING STOLEN FUNDS
Powerful forces in the Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency were neck deep in the mindless looting. Jose Mourinho's return to management has been agreed ahead of a July start, according to BT Sport.
Broadcaster Matt Smith revealed on Twitter that the former Chelsea manager is expecting to begin his new role for the start of the 2015-16 season, information he divulged off camera when being interviewed.

Mourinho has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League with Manchester United as Louis van Gaal's struggle for consistent results continues.

Nigeria invites Adi, Iheanacho for AFCON qualifiers

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Samson Siasia has invited Portland Timbers striker Fernando Adi as well as Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho for the two-legged Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.

 

The 25-year old prolific striker has been ignored over the years by Super Eagles handlers notwithstanding his exploits but Siasia said he believes the big forward could do a job for the team against the Egyptians.

 

Regulars; Kenneth Omeruo, Ogenyi Onazi, John Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo, Carl Ikeme and Ambrose Efe all made the list.

 

The two African giants will lock horns first, in Kaduna on Friday March 25 and later play the second leg in Alexandria, Egypt on Tuesday March 29.

 

The 22 home –boys are expected to hit camp at the Bolton White Apartments, Abuja on Sunday, March 6 before the overseas –based boys arrive as from Sunday, March 20.

 

While unveiling the list in a Press Conference at the NFF secretariat on Thursday, Samson Siasia assured that he would do everything within his ability to ensure that the Eagles fly in the two encounters.

 

He said he only invited the players that will help him actualize his plans for the two encounters against the North Africans since they will have only few days together before the matches.

 

“We will work on tactics on how we want to play. We have to watch the videos [of the Egyptians], look at their strong areas and their weaknesses and translate that into how we have to play against them.

 

“We are playing at home, we must win at home. Whatever it takes for us to win at home, that is what we will do. We have spoken to most of these players like Mikel, Moses, Iheanacho and they are all ready to play,” Siasia said.

 

He however, noted that the harsh weather in Kaduna may not be in the favour of the foreign-based players as they are presently playing in a cold environment.

 

“It is going to be very difficult coming from the cold to play in a very hot weather. How can we manage that? That is the biggest problem I think we have.”

 

The team will leave Abuja to Kaduna on 21^st March on time to acclimatize with the weather and the football pitch.

AFCON 2017: 19 Eagles hit camp ahead of Egypt clash

All the 19 expected home-based Super Eagles have arrived in camp on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

It would be recalled that Segun Oduduwa, Usman Mohammed and Stanley Dimgba were on Monday barred from showing up at the Bolton White Apartments after reporting late to the camp of the U-23 squad.

The boys, made up of some players from the U-23 squad and 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) team started training on Monday as the boys look forward to a victory over the visiting North Africans on 25th March in Kaduna.

Head coach of the team Samson Siasia, while speaking to the press on Tuesday afternoon expressed optimism that the Super Eagles could pick all three points in Kaduna.

 

He stressed that discipline, strong mentality, self-belief and support of Nigerians could steer the Eagles to heights attained by their predecessors, who pounded the Pharaohs 4-0 in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in Lagos in October 1977.

 

Siasia noted: “We can recreate October 1977; why not? The home –boys have come in and full training has commenced. Everyone is rearing to go. By the time the foreign –based players arrive, the competition will be what we want.

 

“I insist that we have invited the players who are capable of giving us the three points in Kaduna and another three points in Alexandria.”

 

Apart from being two points behind the Egyptians on the Group G table, the Eagles also lag behind the Pharaohs on goals scored. The Pharaohs have scored eight while Nigeria have scored two in the two matches played by each team.

Opiate drugs such as heroin may also reduce fertility because they have hormone altering effects and decrease libido.

EFCC Arrests Former Acting PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus

The immediate past acting chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, arrested Tuesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, illegally received 23 luxury vehicles valued at N310 million from a controversial businessman, Jide Omokore, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

A source at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said the vehicles included a Mercedes G63 and a Range Rover Autobiography.

“His (Mr. Secondus) name popped up while we were investigating Jide Omokore, who lifted crude oil repeatedly through his Atlantic Energy but failed to remit the money to the government,” said the source.

Nigerian government insiders had told PREMIUM TIMES two weeks ago that Mr. Omokore had been compelled ‎to release $14 million crude oil royalty his company, Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited, failed to remit to the federal treasury.

Mr. Secondus was picked up by the anti-graft operatives on Tuesday after investigators suspected he had served as a conduit for laundering Mr. Omokore’s funds.

“Mr. Omokore distributed money and gifts to politicians, and investigators are suspicious that actually those money and vehicles might have passed through him (Mr. Secondus) to other politicians,” the source said.

Mr. Omokore incorporated his company in 2010 and, shortly afterwards, signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, the upstream production subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Under the agreement, Atlantic Energy took charge of providing funds, technical services, drill, and selling of crude from four oil blocks – ‎OML 26 FHN, OML 30 Shoreline, OML 34 Niger-Delta Oil, and OML 42 Neconde.

The company was later accused of lifting crude oil but remitting only a fraction of its worth to the Nigerian government.

Mr. Secondus is currently undergoing interrogation at the Commission’s headquarters.

Reacting to Mr. Secondus’ arrest, the PDP criticized the federal government’s “oppressive and unfair treatments” of its key leaders.

In a statement on Wednesday, the party said the arrest was part of a grand script by the All Progressives Congress-led government to decimate the opposition.

“We are also aware that plans have been perfected by the federal government to arrest and detain the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and other leaders of the party on imaginary charges,” the party said in the statement signed by Victor Kwon, its National Legal Adviser.

“Indeed, intelligence available to the party shows that the federal government, using its various agencies, is bent on destroying any opposition to the ruling party as all indications show that the government is more interested in humiliating the PDP than fighting corruption.”

Leader of APGA, Victor Umeh, Arrested by SSS Over Alleged Sponsor Of Biafra

 

Immediate past National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and candidate for Anambra Central senatorial election, Chief Victor Umeh, has allegedly been arrested by men of the Department of State Services, DSS, over support for the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

It was gathered that Umeh was invited to the headquarters of DSS at Amawbia at about 9.00 and after about two hours, was taken out of the office in a pick-up van en-route Abuja.

It was gathered that the security officials were said to have received petitions that Umeh was among those who are secretly supporting the pro-Biafra agitators whose leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, is still being detained by the security operatives.

A source close to Umeh said: “I am right now at Aguluzigbo, the country home of Chief Victor Umeh. His wife told me that he was arrested in the morning by men of the security service and taken to their state headquarters.

“But at about 11 am, he was taken from the state headquarters to Abuja in a pick-up van. It was alleged that there were petitions against him that he supports IPOB. We don’t know who may have sponsored the petitions, but there are accusing fingers on some of his known political opponents…”
